and Dalaman international airport is the most local to the
villa and you will find that direct flights are available
from most UK airports. Fllights can be booked through several
airlines. Websites which are worth investigating include www.flythomascook.com
www.xl.com
and www.freedomflights.co.uk.
Transfer times for Dalaman airport are approximately 50 mins.
Transfers
If
required your transfers to and from the villa can be arranged
for you at the time of booking.
All
of the places mentioned hereafter are easily reached either
by car, taxi, or by the use of the famous dolmus's (minibus).
Dolmus
This
somewhat eccentric means of transport proves not only a cheap
alternative to hiring a car or taking a taxi but also an ideal
way of getting around the local area. They run once every
5-10 mins from the bottom of our lane and cost about 80p per
person. They take about 5 mins into Hisaronu and 10 mins into
Fethiye or down to Oludeniz beach. They run until midnight out of season and 1am in the summer .

Towns
to visit
Oludeniz
The World famous Oludeniz
beach is a beautiful sandy cove of tranquil turquoise
sea. The Blue Lagoon of Oludeniz has calm, crystal clear waters
which make it ideal for a variety of water sports and a very
safe place for children to swim. Part of the lagoon is now
a protected national park. Oludeniz is also one of the world
centres for the sport of paragliding and those who dare can
jump from the top of Babadag Mountain and enjoy the exhilarating
30 mins flight and land next to your family or friends on the beach.
Oludeniz also offers a superb place to enjoy your evenings,
with some great beach front restaurants and bars as well as
the most stunning sunsets.
Hisaronu
Situated
a 5 min dolmus ride from the villa, Hisaronu is surrounded
by breathtaking views of mountains as well as pine and almond
forests. The once sleepy villages of Hisaronu and Ovacik have
combined to create a lively resort, which offers you a large
variety of shops to browse round before choosing from the
many bars and restaurants in which to enjoy your evening meal
and drinks. For the younger ones there are also 2 nightclubs
in Hisaronu. |
| Fethiye
Fethiye is a busy harbour town of about 50,000 people. The
town imaginatively straddles the old and the new. The attractions
range from the modern marina with its impressive yachts and
five star hotel with Turkish baths, to the hustle and bustle
of its authentic Turkish Bazaar where you can walk the narrow
streets and haggle for anything from copy handbags and clothing
to hand made Turkish carpets. Market day is on a Tuesday and
is not to be missed as every villager from miles around sell their home grown produce as well as local crafts.
Fethiye offers some first class shopping, places to eat and drink and promises a different experience with each visit,
a town not to be missed! |

Kayakoy
A few kilometres from Fethiye, also accessible by
dolmus, climbing past the ancient fortress and rock tomb of
King Amyntas, the pine trees give way to the dramatic landscape
of the Kaya Village (Kayakoy). Here a dwindling number of
local families till the land and tend their animals. Some
of the old Greek stone houses have been carefully restored
to provide atmospheric and peaceful holiday homes, yet most
stand eerily telling the tale of what once was? Visitors can
walk, cycle or even horse-ride around the pathways and lanes
of the valley, pausing at the simple teahouses, restaurants
and general stores or venturing into the Ghost Town itself
to uncover the full story!!! |
Things
to do
The
Fethiye region has an incredible range of sights and activities.
For
the naturalist there is Butterfly Valley with its 70 different
species to marvel at, for the historians there are the ancient
towns of Kayakoy and Xanthos. For the adventurous types
there are jeep safaris, mud baths, canoeing and why not
walk the stunning Saklikent gorge, 20km long and 1000ft
deep with its own natural springs. For the boat lovers there
is everything from the Harbour in Fethiye, where the owners
of traditional Turkish galleys will take you on a day long
12 island cruise with lunch for ten pounds per person, or
the famous Gullet cruises which can offer anything up to
7 days on board. For the energetic there is every conceivable
water sport or for the raving lunatics why not see the whole
lot from 6,500ft whilst paragliding.
A
Turkish bath is a must, use the one in the 5 star hotel
on Fethiye marina, and if all this sounds way too much like
hard work then lie by the pool, slap on the sun tan lotion
and fall asleep for a week!
